Key United for D.C. Highlights from 2007
More than 15,000 youth were reached through three signature programs: United Reads, Kicks for Kids, and United Soccer Club. In addition:
- United Reads received a second $10,000 grant from the Verizon Foundation
- United Reads partnered with The Heart of America Foundation for school book distributions which allowed the program to triple the number of books distributed to each school.
- Over 10,000 children will attend D.C. United games in 2007 via Kicks for Kids, each receiving tickets to a game, hotdogs, chips and sodas, pom poms, behind-the-bench seating, player autographs and more
- $26,500 distributed to local non-profit organizations and schools to create or expand soccer programming for urban youth in the Washington D.C. area. Continued to support DC SCORES by funding a full school year program at Turner Elementary School in Ward 8.
- United Soccer Club expands from one to three sites, providing over 120 youth the opportunity to participate in after school soccer clinics. The program also submitted a co-ed Under 10 team in the Soccer on the Hill league in the spring and fall season.
